PostSubject: A bitter-sweet moment   15/1/2007, 8:22 pm

Today I woke up ready to go to work like any other day. If you don't know what that's like for me it's getting up to my alarm blaring I switch my alarm off and then fall back asleep, I end up waking up for the second time with just enough time to jump into the shower and grab a bowl of shredded wheat.

And then there's the cold trip to town, walking across town and getting to work to see all the people I hate.

So, I'm at work for an hour and 20 minutes having one of the worst workdays of my life and a co-worker that clocked in just moments ago gives me a strange look and wonders why she spies me standing there bagging groceries in my dumb white shirt.

And then she says, "I didn't think you worked today...Oh, you must be filling in for someone" I say "No I'm scheduled to work today" And then she says, "Oh, I must be thinking of the wrong day".

Well, I had to go check the schedule in the back. So I do and turns out I don't work today, my dumb boss put an extra day on the schedule so I thought I worked today but I actually work tomorrow.

Bitter: Because I had to go through the hell that is getting to work.

Sweet: Because I was able to leave the hell that is work.

I did that last week--go to work when I wasn't supposed to, I mean. What was bad was that we'd had a girl's night for Charlene the night before so I had about 4 hours of sleep, and if I had known I didn't have to work I would have had everyone just stay over.

But your day sounds worse.

I think I got 5 hours that night, so it wasn't quite as bad as yours.

I've only come in once before when I wasn't supposed to, had my stupid little uniform on, hair cinched back and concealed with a hairnet, foggy disposition since it was a 6:00 shift.....and one of my co-workers laughs out loud and tells me to go home.

It was kinda fun RUNNING out of the building though, "FREEDOM!!!!!" Jumping
